West Bridgford Film and Food Festival returns on Saturday July 11!

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) will host a free Film and Food Festival at Bridgford Park in West Bridgford on Saturday July 11, from 12.30pm to 9pm.

Residents and visitors can enjoy a fantastic day of food and film, featuring a diverse selection of street food and drink stalls alongside screenings of much-loved flicks. The event is being delivered in partnership with Film Hub Midlands and Broadway Cinema.

More than a dozen food and drink traders will be serving up a wide range of culinary delights, including Falafale Baffle, Vegetarian Rasoi, Yello Yard, Porco, Paddington Waffle, Beeston Brownie, Nocona, Blackbird Coffee, Heavenly Horse Box Bar, Thirsty Farmer and Suzo. 

The festival programme will feature three films, alongside a range of workshops and activities, including*:

1pm Zootropolis 2 (2025) cert PG 

Rookie cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De'Snake arrives in Zootropolis and turns the animal metropolis upside down.

4pm Shrek 2 (2004) cert PG 

When Shrek and Fiona return from their honeymoon, her parents, the rulers of Far Far Away, invite them over. But as the king does not like Shrek, he enlists a fairy to keep him away from his daughter.

7pm Back to the Future (1985) cert PG

When teenager Marty McFly is accidentally sent thirty years into the past in a time-traveling DeLorean built by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown, he inadvertently disrupts his parents' first meeting. To save his own existence, Marty must play matchmaker to get his teenage parents back together before finding a way to power the time machine and return to the future.

Free Children’s Workshops 12.30pm – 5pm

  • The kingdom of Far Far Away meets the wild city of Zootropolis! Join us before the screening for a selection of family-friendly activities inspired by the worlds of Shrek 2 and Zootropolis. Get creative, make something magical, and enjoy some swamp-tastic and wild fun suitable for children and grown-ups alike. Drop in, explore, and prepare for an adventure packed with ogres, fairytale creatures and clever critters before settling in for the films.

RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “We're delighted to welcome back our free Film and Food Festival, offering the perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a fun-filled summer day out.

“This year's event will feature three much-loved films on the big screen, complemented by a fantastic selection of street food vendors and a range of activities for both children and adults to enjoy throughout the day.

“Whether you're coming for the films, the food or the family-friendly entertainment, bring along a chair or a blanket and join us for a memorable day at Bridgford Park.”

Screenings will still go ahead in inclement weather, so visitors are advised to dress for the great British summer!

Parents or guardians accompanying children to the events are asked to adhere to the film’s certification.
