Sharphill Community Hall opens to the public!

Sharphill Community Hall is now open for bookings, bringing an exciting new venue for local residents living on the Sharphill development in Edwalton.
The brand-new facility on Cornelia Grove at NG12 4HB provides a welcoming space for residents, community groups and local businesses to connect, collaborate and celebrate.
The community centre adds to the already vibrant local area by offering a new focal point that complements and supports new communities, designed to bring people together by supporting local activities.
At the heart of the facility is a spacious multi-purpose hall that accommodates up to 40 people, making it ideal for clubs, fitness classes, children’s parties, meetings and community gatherings. A defibrillator is also available at the front of the community centre.
The venue also boasts a dedicated meeting room, fully equipped kitchen and accessible public toilets for visitors to the neighbouring allotments and community park to help support the local community.

Free car parking spaces, including accessible bays and cycle spaces are also available for visitors.
To further assist the ongoing work of the Friends of Sharphill Wood (FoSW), a small storage facility for tools and equipment has been included at the site.
Sustainability was a key consideration in the building's design, with solar panels and an air source heat pump incorporated to minimise its environmental impact and support the Council’s carbon reduction ambitions.
The new facility enhances the range of community amenities available locally, supporting the priorities set out in Rushcliffe Borough Council's (RBC) Leisure Strategy.
The Mayor of Rushcliffe Cllr Richard Butler officially opened the new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week (July 16), joined by Council representatives, local developers and the FoSW.
Cllr Butler said: “I am pleased to open this new state-of-the-art facility in Edwalton, to further boost the new thriving community located there.
“Residents and businesses are now able to book the fabulous and accessible venue that provides the perfect place to hold events, meetings and celebrations.
“Projects like this are only possible through strong partnership working, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to bringing this vision to life.”
RBC Leader Cllr Neil Clarke added: “As Edwalton has grown in recent years, it has been important that community infrastructure grows alongside it. The development of Sharphill Community Hall demonstrates a commitment to creating not just new homes, but a vibrant, connected and sustainable community.
“This hall will provide a welcoming space for residents of all ages, hosting activities that strengthen community life and foster a sense of belonging.”
RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “The opening of Sharphill Community Hall showcases the latest positive step taken as we seek to keep providing the best facilities possible for all of our residents as part of our Leisure Strategy.
“To ensure the facility offers the most value possible to residents and businesses, we listened to the views of the local community by including a storage facility for the Friends of Sharphill Woods to assist with the amazing work they do to help our teams maintain the beautiful natural space at Sharphill Wood.”
