Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to rushcliffe.gov.uk

This website is run by Rushcliffe Borough Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Rushcliffe Borough Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliance listed below.

Non-accessible content

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some of our older PDFs and Word documents don't meet accessibility standards. For example; they may not be structured so that they're accessible to a screen reader. This doesn't meet WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2

  • There is poor colour contrast when the keyboard tabs onto the button "Councillor's Portal". WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum): Elements must have sufficient colour contrast. This is visible on all pages of the website.

  • Register for a Self-Service Account page: The chevron icon is not accessible using the keyboard. This means the sidebar column cannot be expanded to view the full links "Login" and "Register" . WCAG 2.1.1 Keyboard - Users should be able to use a keyboard to access all content and functionality of a web page. This means the page can be used by people with no vision as well as people who use alternative keyboards or input devices that act as a keyboard.

  • Register for a Self-Service Account page: There is poor colour contrast when the mouse hovers over the link "Login" down the side of the webpage (once the chevron column has been expanded). WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum): Elements must have sufficient colour contrast.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

All policies and strategies have an accessible html webpage version. We also create an accessible webpage for many other documents. This is an ongoing process and old PDFs will be replaced over time.

Please see the list of accessible web documents currently available.

We are working with our software supplier to resolve the non-compliant elements of our website.

This website was last tested on 21 May 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
