Have your say on how West Bridgford will be governed in the future
Last updated: 1/11/2026
Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has received a petition from residents in West Bridgford asking for the creation of a new parish and associated council, which in time could become a town council.
A Community Governance Review has been launched by RBC as a result of the petition reaching the required number of valid signatures from electors in the currently unparished area.
Each household in the petitioned area will receive an information sheet and questionnaire direct to their address and local businesses and community groups will be emailed an information sheet about the Review.
Residents and businesses are asked to indicate if they would like to see a new parish, and associated council, created for West Bridgford and can give their views by completing RBC’s online survey at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/westbridgford. The alternative being West Bridgford remains as part of the Council
The deadline for responses is Friday January 1, 2027 and can also be completed by emailing consultation@rushcliffe.gov.uk or posting to FREEPOST RTJY-BGGZ-EKZK, Rushcliffe Borough Council, Rushcliffe Arena, Rugby Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7YG.
RBC also need to establish whether it would provide effective and convenient local governance as well as the potential financial implications. The proposed boundary for the new parish, as defined by the petitioners, is shown on the map below:

The findings of the consultation will be considered by RBC, before a recommendation is made which residents will be able to comment on in the spring in a second stage of consultation. A final decision on this will be taken by RBC in September 2027.
