It was with great sadness we learned of the passing of our former Mayor Christine Jeffreys this week.
She proudly served as first citizen of the Borough and our Mayor in 2007-08 and again in 2019-20, was a Borough Councillor for Cotgrave for 20 years from 2003 and a resident in the town since 1963.
A well-known and popular figure in our local communities, not least as a teacher to many, she was acknowledged for her role on countless committees and panels and devoted to improving services for local people.
She was a long-standing member of Cotgrave Town Council, involved in many groups and societies including the Royal British Legion and the WI and remembered fondly as a talented needleworker and passionate Notts CCC fan at Trent Bridge. She chose Headway Nottingham as her chosen charity when last in office as Mayor.
