Electric vehicle charging works at West Bridgford car parks start from July 13

Last updated: 7/7/2026

Electric vehicle (EV) charging points are set to be installed at Bridgford Road and Nursery car parks in West Bridgford from Monday July 13, helping to meet increasing demand for EV charging opportunities across the Borough.

The scheme has been carefully designed to increase parking spaces, offering medium to rapid charging to the town centre, with the new the charging points available later this summer.

Both car parks will remain open through works, although partial closures will be in place from July 13 while the charging points are installed. The works are expected to last around two weeks, with contractors working to minimise disruption throughout the installation period.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment and Safety Cllr Rob Inglis said: “We’re pleased to introduce further EV charging points at our car parks helping to accommodate motorists as the demand for electric vehicles rises.

“This builds on further sites we’ve introduced EV charging points in recent years at sites including Rushcliffe Country Park, Rushcliffe Arena, Gamston Community Hall, Gresham Sports Park and Bunny Lane and Church Drive in Keyworth.

This is an integral part of our Carbon Clever journey to become net zero in our own operations by 2030, by making our Council owned car parks greener to support wider carbon reduction action across the borough. It also aligns with the Government’s target to achieve a net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“Thank you for your patience whilst these works take place at Bridgford Road and Nursery Road car parks. We are working with contractors to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum and there will be a traffic control officer onsite throughout the installation.”
