New upgraded seating, planters and cycle stands are now in place along Central Avenue in West Bridgford with support from Rushcliffe Borough Council’s (RBC) allocation of UK Shared Prosperity Funding.
As part of the improvements, some of the railings along the main road have been removed, and new cycle stands, and litter bins have been installed in the area.
Benches have also been repositioned along the high street and a new welcoming seating area adjacent to 200 Degrees Coffee in the town has been created offering a refreshed spot for residents and visitors to relax.
RBC’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Business and Growth Cllr Abby Brennan met Little Green Kitchen Co-owner Nikki Straw along Central Avenue to view the upgrades.
Cllr Brennan said: “It is great to see these enhancements in West Bridgford town centre. Making small improvements like this in our town and village centres can have a big impact and we hope it will encourage more people to visit and spend time in West Bridgford.
“We remain committed to supporting Rushcliffe retail areas and the businesses within them, and this project is just one of many initiatives to deliver on this commitment and strengthen our economy.”
Nikki Straw Co-owner with Daisy Straw added: “Central Avenue has always had a buzz, but now it’s even more of a destination.
“The new seating and planters have created a lovely place for people to sit, chat, and soak up the atmosphere—hopefully we’ll see more people exploring the area and supporting local shops and cafés.”
