Rushcliffe Borough Council’s (RBC) £5.2m investment in refurbishments and energy efficient improvements at local leisure centres are continuing with Cotgrave Leisure Centre now welcoming newly opened facilities!
They have included a new changing places toilet, wider corridors, fully refurbished poolside and changing room and the provision of two enhanced dedicated studios, one for group exercise and one for spin classes, operated by Lex Leisure.
It has also received significant investment in enhancing its facilities and decarbonisation with a new low carbon air source heat pump unit. This is delivering an innovative and pioneering application of heat pump and green technology, along with solar panels on the roof.
It is anticipated that the green technology will result in 250% to 300% energy efficiency at the site. The new heat pumps and solar panels were part funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme and Department for Culture, Media and Sport Swimming Pool Support Fund.
RBC’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “These changes are a brilliant example of how we can make a popular leisure facility even better with some great new features and all with the environment in mind.
“We know the quality of life and quality of affordable leisure facilities is important to residents. This is why we have made this significant investment here at Cotgrave to ensure future generations can have access to contemporary health and wellbeing options.
“A well done to the team and all partners, the new features, studios and changing rooms look excellent and the feedback from residents has been very positive.”
The works were undertaken by Principal Contractor, Leisure Energy, leading decarbonisation works alongside their sub-contractors JRD Design and Build who carried out the refurbishment with BW Group Services providing mechanical and electrical engineering services.
RBC were supported by TSA Riley Consultants who have provided project management and cost management services.
The revamped leisure centre is operated by Lex Leisure who kept customers informed throughout the disruption and were delighted to see the works complete with positive feedback from customers.
JRD, TSA and BW are now delivering another ambitious refurbishment programme at Keyworth Leisure Centre.
Works are now underway as part of the investment and will include essential roof repairs and internal refurbishment throughout including the pool area.
