Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has awarded over £20,000 to support free inclusive dance and movement classes, helping residents connect and reduce loneliness across the Borough.
Through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), RBC is supporting IMPACD CIC to deliver a series of professionally led sessions designed for older adults, people living with dementia, carers and anyone experiencing loneliness, low mood, or limited mobility.
Led by friendly facilitators, sessions include gentle dancing to uplifting music in a relaxed, welcoming environment and the classes run weekly across Ruddington, Keyworth, Bingham, and West Bridgford. Upcoming sessions take place on:

RBC’s Deputy Leader Cllr Abby Brennan recently visited a Joyful Dance session hosted by Director of IMPACD C.I.C Amanda Hose-Hawley at St Paul’s Church in West Bridgford.
Cllr Brennan said: “Through our UKSPF allocation, we’re supporting projects that boost health and wellbeing. This initiative is a wonderful example of bringing people together, improving wellbeing, and reducing isolation through dance and movement.
“It was lovely to visit one of their sessions and see how much the participants enjoy attending. The music is uplifting and the classes provide a safe and joyful space for residents to connect, move, and thrive.
“Sessions are free and I encourage anyone interested to come along, meet new people and have fun!”

Amanda added: "The Joy and connections created in these sessions is amazing, we see so many smiles, we really want to embed these sessions into communities and welcome volunteers, especially those who would like to lead the sessions.
“To get in touch with us, please email info@impacd-cic.org.uk.”
Group participant Margaret Sharpe said: “Thank you to Amanda for hosting these classes. I was feeling tired and stiff at home but joining these sessions has helped me feel more active and connected.”
Group participant Jo added: “Even if you can’t move much, you can adapt the exercises. These sessions mean a lot to me, they are relaxed, enjoyable, and accessible. Thank you to Amanda and the team.”
