Regarding the recent fire at Hathernware Industrial estate.

Could you please outline what action was taken against the Smiths following the fire of 2017/18.

What environmental / Health and Safety inspections have taken place of the Smiths site since then?

Why was this site allowed to become a ticking time bomb?

The Smiths have move up the hill to a site designated self storage at LE12 5EH. What planning approval does this site have and what inspections will be taking place?

This is a Health and Safety Executive enforced premises for H&S, and Environment Agency for environmental issues.

The Smiths have move up the hill to a site designated self storage at LE12 5EH. What planning approval does this site have, what inspections will be taking place?

The site as described in the request where there is currently a pending application for self-storage, known as “The Yard”, is vacant as of 10:30am on 22/04/2026. There is no activity taking place on that land.
