Ratcliffe Local Development Order
Ratclife on Soar Local Development Order
The Council approved revisions to the Ratcliffe on Soar Local Development Order (LDO) on 12 May 2026. The details are available to view on our Planning-Online website.
The Ratcliffe on Soar LDO was originally adopted on 13 July 2023 and is available to view on our Planning-Online website.
The LDO has been prepared to help shape the plans for redevelopment of the Ratcliffe on Soar power station site. It grants planning permission for the site’s redevelopment.
The power station closed in September 2024 in line with government policy to end coal-fired power generation. The site is part of the East Midlands Freeport, which is a government initiative to encourage innovation and job creation. Rushcliffe Borough Council worked with Uniper, owner of the power station, to prepare the LDO and identify an appropriate redevelopment scheme for the site.
