This is an information request relating to scheduled bin collection changes.
 
Please include the following information:

• How frequently are bins collected from residential properties? Please provide the frequency for each type of bin and the day its collected
• Is the council considering changing the frequency of bin collections?
• If so please provide the current frequency as well as the new proposed frequency.
• What are the maximum amount of bins/receptacles that are available for collection by the council (i.e. general waste bin, recycle bin, food bin, etc.) This includes bins that residents are charged extra fees to obtain. Please provide a list
• How many requests have been made for a larger bin, or an additional bin of the same kind in the current financial year, 2025-26 (to present)?

Response

How frequently are bins collected from residential properties? Please provide the frequency for each type of bin and the day its collected

• Residual dry recycling and garden waste bin (subscription service) are emptied on a fortnightly basis
• Kerbside glass bins are emptied on a 6 weekly cycle

Is the council considering changing the frequency of bin collections?

• No

If so please provide the current frequency as well as the new proposed frequency.

• Not applicable

What are the maximum amount of bins / receptacles that are available for collection by the council (i.e. general waste bin, recycle bin, food bin, etc.) This includes bins that residents are charged extra fees to obtain. Please provide a list:

• Residents can request an additional residual waste bin based on criteria of 5 or more living in the same household or 2 or more children in nappies.
• We don't restricts the number of dry recycling and glass bins at a property but the vast majority of properties have one of each
  Garden waste customers can request up to 5 bins which is a chargeable service.

How many requests have been made for a larger bin, or an additional bin of the same kind in the current financial year, 2025-26 (to present)?

• We do not provide larger bins as all bins are standard 240 litre apart from the glass bin which is 180 litre.
• 574 requests received of which 232 were for dry recycling bins and 342 for residual waste bins.
