The Council recognises it has a role to play in helping those leaving the Armed Forces (veterans) to fulfil their potential in civilian life. This also applies to current members of the Reserve Forces.
RBC has a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Veterans and Reservists. This is available to applicants who meet the minimum essential job criteria.

The Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Veterans and Reservists is a commitment to support the Armed Forces Community Covenant.
The scheme does not guarantee a job for a veteran or reservist. The recruitment and selection procedures will ensure the most suitable candidate for the job is appointed. This will be based on the selection criteria of the job profile.

We offer a Buddy system to successful veterans and reservists to help you settle into RBC and throughout your career with us.
The Council will not unreasonably refuse a request to release an employee from work if they are mobilised for active duty.
The Council will grant two weeks’ additional paid leave to volunteer members of the Non-Regular Forces who are required to attend training at summer camp.
Employees who are required to undertake additional training during working time will be granted reasonable time off with pay. This is provided that the training cannot be arranged for non-working time.
Employees will not be unreasonably refused time off to attend voluntary additional training. This will need to be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave.
