Please could you tell me how many people have presented themselves to the council as homeless as a result of losing their home as a result of mortgage repossession in each of the past three financial years (2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25) and how many, in each of those years, how many of those who presented as homeless because of mortgage repossessions have since been homes.

Response

Thank you for your freedom of information request received on 12 May. I have to advise you that we will not be able to answer your request without exceeding the appropriate limit. This is because we do not hold the information in an extractable format and it would require a bespoke report to be created by our software provider.

Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act makes provision for public authorities to refuse requests for information where the cost of dealing with them would exceed the appropriate limit, which for local authorities is set at £450. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending 2 working days in determining whether the authority holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting it. The appropriate limit is prescribed by regulation 3 of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection (appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004.
