I am requesting information relating to applicants identified as veterans of the UK Armed Forces within your authority’s housing and homelessness services.

Please provide the following information for each financial year from 2020/21 to the most recent complete year available.

Please provide the data in Excel or CSV format where possible.

1. Housing Register

Please provide:

• The number of households on the housing register identified as veterans of the UK Armed Forces.
• The number of veteran households added to the housing register during each reporting year.

2. Social Housing Allocations

Please provide:

• The number of veteran households allocated social housing.

3. Homelessness Applications

Please provide:

• The number of homelessness applications where the applicant was identified as a veteran of the UK Armed Forces.
  The number of veteran households owed:
  • Prevention Duty
  • Relief Duty
  • Main Housing Duty

4. Temporary Accommodation

Please provide:

• The number of veteran households placed into temporary accommodation.

5. Armed Forces Covenant Recording

Please confirm:

• Whether your authority records Armed Forces veteran status within housing or homelessness systems.
• Whether veteran status is recorded through self-identification or another method.
• Whether your authority has specific housing guidance, policy, or procedures relating to the Armed Forces Covenant.

We directly hold some of the information you have requested, and this has been provided.  However, some of the information requested, specifically that relating to the Council’s Homelessness duties under section VII of Housing Act 1996, is held by an external software provider. This information can only be obtained by the external software provider preparing a bespoke report and the costs of this to the Council would exceed the cost limit set out by section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) that being £450.
