Request information on Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Climate Emergency Declaration.

Response

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has not declared a local climate emergency, though we recognise that there is a global climate emergency.

RBC developed a carbon management plan in line with our target to become carbon neutral for our own operations by 2030.

In December 2021 we released an update climate change strategy which now includes our goal to become a Net Zero borough by 2050 in line with government targets.

All of our strategies and Carbon Management plan are available to the public on the RBC website – please see the following links for further information.

None of the parishes of Rushcliffe have independently declared a climate emergency, we work with our local parishes in line with the objectives set out in our Climate Change Strategy to reduce the carbon footprint of the borough.

Significant work has taken place against our carbon management plan actions, for full detail of progress you are welcome to view the Communities Scrutiny Group 28 April 2022 - YouTube in which we provide updates on the climate change projects worked on over the past 12 months.
