Lark in the Park

Rushcliffe Borough Council's popular Lark in the Park event returns on Wednesday August 5, bringing a day packed with free activities, entertainment and family fun to celebrate National Play Day.

Taking place at Bridgford Park in West Bridgford from 10am to 4pm, the event will feature more than 40 stalls and activities for children and families to enjoy.

This year's free event is sponsored by Royston & Lund, Spire Nottingham Hospital, Proludic Ltd and Pizza Hut West Bridgford and will include an inflatable fun zone, soft play, storytelling sessions and a variety of sports activities.

Popular performers Jo Jingles, Dynamic Dance and Super Sparkle Parties are returning to entertain the little ones with free singing and shows throughout the day.

There will also be a range of free sports sessions delivered by National Ice Arena, Lex Leisure, West Bridgford Tennis Club, Nottingham Rugby Club and Via East Midlands.

Visitors can also explore an array of food and drink stalls alongside charity and community stands, offering information, advice and activities from local organisations.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Wellbeing, ICT and Member Development Cllr Jonathan Wheeler said: “Lark in the Park is one of Rushcliffe's most loved family events and we're looking forward to welcoming thousands of children, parents and carers to Bridgford Park for a fantastic day celebrating National Play Day.

“There's something for everyone to enjoy, with free activities, performances, sports sessions and opportunities for families to spend quality time together outdoors during the summer holidays.

“Visitors will also spot our recently awarded Green Flag for Bridgford Park and Bridge Field. The award recognises the high standards maintained across the site, which offers fantastic facilities, rich wildlife habitats and plenty of opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors.

“Thank you to our Lark in the Park event sponsors Royston & Lund, Spire Nottingham Hospital, Proludic Ltd and Pizza Hut West Bridgford for supporting this free community event.”

This year’s theme for National Play Day is ‘Play – here, there, everywhere!’ which highlights the vital importance of accessible, inclusive spaces where children and young people have opportunities to play freely, connect with friends and feel valued as part of their community.
