Social Prescribing Friendship Calendar

Loneliness is fast becoming one of the greatest social challenges nationally and whilst often associated with older people who live on their own, it can affect anyone of any age and linked to issues such as obesity, smoking and can increase risk of dementia.

Our partners at Rushcliffe Primary Care Network are focussing on how to combat loneliness and social isolation.

The Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Team run Friendship Calendars across all of Rushcliffe with the aim to reduce social isolation for individuals.

To find a Friendship Session near you, visit Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Service.

Rushcliffe Big Green Book

The Rushcliffe Big Green Book was developed with the support of the GreenSpace project at Nottingham Community Voluntary Service and is a directory of nature-based activities and opportunities around Rushcliffe.

It is designed to be used by social prescribers and healthcare workers who want to find activities for their patients, as well as individuals who are looking for an activity to get involved in.

The book is now delivered in partnership with Rushcliffe Borough Council, Rushcliffe Primary Care Network and Nottingham Community Voluntary Service and sets out local activities and groups across the Borough to help people choose an activity that is local and easily accessible to them.

Community Wellbeing Fund

Our Community Wellbeing Fund is an initiative from Rushcliffe Borough Council designed to help support local initiatives that aim to tackle loneliness and social isolation.

We are now inviting town and parish councils, local groups and organisations to put forward proposals for setting up, sustaining or expanding projects that take innovative approaches to tackling loneliness within the Borough.

Rushcliffe CVS Befriending

Rushcliffe Community & Voluntary Service offer a befriending service.

Their friendly volunteers can call, visit with you or meet with you once or twice a week to have a friendly chat, check on your welfare, offer advice and company and ensure that you have what you need.

Find out more information and how to get involved on the Rushcliffe CVS website.

Signposting

Across Rushcliffe we have created a Population Health Management Calendar. Each month focuses on a health category and promotes services available to anyone. Find resources on what you can do to improve your health.

The Social Prescribing Team have put together a full, easy to understand, list of directories for health and social care conditions. Each one is filled with tips, links to websites offering help, and information about services offering support on the issue. View the health directories.
