Healthier Options Takeaway (HOT)

Healthier Options Takeaway is a scheme ran by Nottinghamshire County Council and District and Borough Council partners. The aim is to increase the amount and variety of healthier options in takeaways across Nottinghamshire to help consumers to maintain a more balanced diet.

Takeaways that qualify as HOT are making positive changes to how they prepare, serve and display their food to help customers make healthier choices.

Better Health NHS - Lose Weight

Better Health is the latest campaign from NHS which aims to encourage everyone to make healthy changes and empower adults and children to live healthier lives.

Whether you want to lose weight, get active, drink less or quit smoking, Better Health gives people the tools and resources to make small changes to improve their health.

Losing weight has many health benefits. Better Health provides free support and guidance for those working towards a healthier weight as well as information on local weight management services.

The NHS Weight Loss Plan app can help you to make simple changes to your regular food and exercise regime and provide a 12-week personalised guide created for you based on your current BMI and health goals.

More information can be found on the Better Health web page.

Healthier Families

Better Health Healthier Families, formerly known as Change4Life, offers free support and guidance to help you and your family eat better and move more. The campaign encourages everyone to make smart choices about what we eat and drink and to look out for ‘hidden nasties’ – salt, fat and sugar – in many everyday foods, reminding us that eating too much of these can be bad for our health.

It also provides lots of ideas for easy, tasty and healthier meals as well as hints and tips on activities to get your family moving and how to check your child is a healthy weight.

More information can be found on the Healthier Families web page.
