Request

The number of enforcement actions you have served over shipping containers not having proper planning permission. I would like this information broken down for the years (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022), the outcome of enforcement action and where the container was located (for example on green belt land, in a back garden of a dwelling, on a brownfield site).

2019

  • Description: 2 Containers - commercial office property
  • Relevant Constraints or Land Designations: Greenbelt; setting of non-designated heritage asset
  • Action Taken: No notices served, but Planning Enforcement Notice threatened if containers not removed
  • Outcome: Containers removed on threat of formal action; case closed

2020

  • Description: 4 containers, domestic driveway
  • Relevant Constraints or Land Designations: not specified
  • Action Taken: Planning application subsequently submitted for demolition of the dwelling and construction of 3 replacement dwellings. Containers then retained as site contractors storage under permitted development rights until construction was complete.
