Request

I would like to request the following information regarding the planning applications for GP surgeries in your area:

  1. How many planning applications for the construction of a GP surgery have been made in each year since 2015?
  2. How many of these applications have been approved?
  3. Of those approved, how many have begun construction?

Response

For 2016 we had two applications for the construction of a medical centre; however, in both cases, they were for the same medical centre (Cotgrave), they were not alternative proposals. The only difference was that one was just for the multi-service building housing the medical centre and the other included that building but also a wider redevelopment project of the adjacent shopping precinct in Cotgrave. The reference numbers were 16/02136/FUL and 16/02137/FUL. Both were granted planning permission and the medical centre has been built and is operating - I do not know if you will count this as 1 or 2.

For 2023 we had one application 23/02077/FUL - this was for rebuilding and reinstating the surgery following a catastrophic fire at the Gotham GP practise which shared buildings with the Parish Council. Planning permission was granted, and work is complete - as this wasn't for a new medical centre but rather for a replacement building, I don't know if you will count this as 1 or 0.

For all other years (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026 to date) we received no applications for constructing GP surgeries.
