Request
I am writing to ask about future housing development.
Is there an amount of housing that has to be built in the Rushcliffe area?
If so what percentage of the target has been completed?
What short term future development is likely to happen, such as Tollerton to Gamston infill? With such a massive project that surely must go along long way to reaching the government target.
Response
The 2014 Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 1 set a target of 13,150 new homes to be built between April 2011 and March 2028. The number of homes built between April 2011 and March 2024 is 7,856 – so 56.7% of the target.
However, a new target is in the process of being put in place. This target (subject to agreement) is for 11,960 new homes between April 2023 and March 2041. With respect to the proposed development between Tollerton and Gamston, it is anticipated that it will provide for around 2,700 new homes over this period (2023 to 2041) – so around 22.5% of total amount of new housing required.
