Response

  1. What support do you currently provide for neurodiverse employees (including but not limited to ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia), and mental health conditions?
    • At recruitment stage the employee would have a pre-employment medical. If they declared a neurodiverse condition they would be seen by our Occ Health provider who would recommend any reasonable adjustments that we could make to support them in the role.

Any employee advising the Council of their neurodiversity will be supported based on their needs. We have a Supporting our Employees policy which states the support that we would give all employees that require it, we also have a separate neurodiversity guidance document, a Reasonable Adjustments Guide and a Working With Me Plan that can be used as required.

Support would be based on a case by case.

  2. Which role(s) or department(s) are responsible for the implementation of neurodiversity-related workplace support and adjustments?
    • The HR Team would be responsible for supporting the manager and employee to ensure support and adjustments are in place.
  3. What is the name and contact details (email and/or phone number) of this person or the relevant contact?
    • Joanne Wilkinson, Strategic HR Manager, jwilkinson@rushcliffe.gov.uk

  4. What assistive technology, if any, is in use to support neurodiverse and/or disabled staff employees?
    • Currently we have the following: Dragon, Read Write Gold, Grammarly, Co-Pilot, Dictaphone and playback speaker, Ergonomic Mice and Keyboards, headset for dictation software.

  5. Do you currently make use of the Access to Work framework to support these employees?
    • We have used Access to Work framework but this is limited as it requires the employee to self refer and we as an employer cannot access this direct. We also had problems with Access to Work when an employee tried to access their services due to excessive delay in response. We do however signpost relevant staff to this service.
