Response

First Aid

Training is delivered on an ad hoc basis to our trained first aiders. A majority are just trained as Emergency first aiders.

Over the last 5 years the following training providers have been used: Midlands First Aid Training, Castle Hill training, British Red Cross, St Johns, LANTRA

  • Estimated number of sessions delivered annually. One session in house but this is not required every year, therefore some are trained at a trainers site for example St Johns
  • Approximate annual cost or value of the training.
    • Less than £1000 – hard to say as some years there is no cost and other years we may run 2 or 3 in house courses.
    • This is not through a formal tendering process and therefore no existing agreements.

Fire Marshal

Training is delivered on an ad hoc basis to our Fire Marshals internally by the H&S Advisor.

Over the last 5 years the following training providers have been used: not applicable all in house training delivery.

  • Estimated number of sessions delivered annually. - 1
  • Approximate annual cost or value of the training - N/A (Officer time – no cost allocated to this)

This is not through a formal tendering process and therefore no existing agreements.

We also require all staff to complete online on going fire awareness training every 3 years.   This is though our online training portal provided by Learning Pool.

Mental Health First Aid

Training is delivered on an ad hoc basis to our trained mental health first aiders

Over the last 5 years the following training providers have been used:

Staff attended MHFA training by Mental Health First Aid England as a two day external course on 11th March 2025. However no in house training has been delivered since 2019.

  • Estimated number of sessions delivered annually. Last full training sessions were delivered in 2019. Ad hoc staff have attended sessions since then but not ran a specific course. I would anticipate only 1 course every 3 years.
  • Approximate annual cost or value of the training. Since 2019 we have not spent any budget on MHFA training as the courses staff have attended have been fully funded.

This is not through a formal tendering process and therefore no existing agreements.

Health & Safety (including Manual Handling, Evacuation Chair, etc.)

Staff are trained in these areas via Learning Pool e-learning modules or via our internal trainers who have a Train the Trainer qualification where staff are in a higher risk job. This includes a re-certification every 3 years.

Responsible Contact (Name, email, and phone number of the person responsible for organising or overseeing the training)

We do not have a designated person for training, our training is overseen by our HR team.

The details of our HR Strategic Manager/Health and Safety lead can be found on our website.

Contract Information

We do not have a contract with training providers however we do have a contract with our learning system provider.

The renewal date for our existing system agreement is 17/11/2026

For information all the Council expenditure over £500 is published on our website.
