Borough Council Leader welcomes withdrawal from unitary council outline business
11 December 2018
Rushcliffe Borough Council Leader, Cllr Simon Robinson, today welcomed the decisive and clear withdrawal of the outline business case for a unitary authority from Thursday’s Nottinghamshire County Council meeting.
He said: “I commend Cllr Cutts on her clearly listening to the feedback from District Council Leaders and Chief Executives at our recent meetings.
“I remain supportive of the need to have a focussed and constructive dialogue that will produce the best public services for the residents of both Rushcliffe Borough Council and Nottinghamshire.
“I believe that this decision has created an opportunity for all councils to step up to the plate so that we can jointly work together to bring future prosperity and growth to our communities.
“In light of Cllr Cutts’ announcement, I now call upon Cllr Jon Collins to confirm the cessation of Nottingham City’s work on extending their boundaries including West Bridgford as stated at a recent Economic Prosperity Committee meeting.”
