Holly Jolly High Street retail trail launched on Melton Road

22 November 2018

Melton Road’s retail trail launched on Saturday (December 1), offering shoppers the chance to win a wonderful hamper full of locally sourced goods donated by local retailers and enjoy an afternoon of yuletide activities.

The Holly Jolly High Street trail, which visits 14 retailers, launched at 1:30pm and was accompanied by a range of seasonal events, including an appearance by Santa and his sleigh, a musical performance by Rushcliffe School Choir and the Christmas Lights Switch On.

Cllr Andy Edyvean, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Business said: “The Holly Jolly High Street marks a wonderful opportunity for shoppers both old and new to visit Melton Road and explore all that the shopping district has to offer this festive season.

“With the launch of the retail trail taking place on Small Business Saturday, December 1, this is the perfect opportunity to support your local Rushcliffe businesses as you shop this Christmas.”

The trail will run until Saturday 15 December and offers shoppers the chance to win the sought after hamper, containing great prizes donated by over 20 local traders, if they successfully complete the route.

The hamper includes a variety of gifts ranging from a Christmas Bouquet, voucher for a half hour massage and festive produce, to swimming passes, gift vouchers and even pantomime tickets for a family of four.

Those still wishing to complete the trail can collect an entry form from any participating Holly Jolly High Street trail retailer.

A map will direct shoppers to a variety of stores around Melton Road, seeking ‘lost presents’ which each have a letter written on their tag.

Once participants have all 14 letters, they need to unscramble them to make a Christmas word for a chance to enter into the prize for the hamper.

Participants should submit their map bearing the correct festive phrase to Melton Road’s ‘Isobel and Henry’ on, or before, Saturday 15 December to be entered in the hamper draw.

Those taking part in the trail are welcome to make a voluntary donation to the Mayor of Rushcliffe’s chosen charity, Nottingham Hospice, when they collect their entry form.

The retailers participating in the trail are:

  • The Dental Suite
  • Brumpton Butchers
  • Slades Florist
  • The Nottingham Window Company
  • Belvoir
  • Daisy Daisy
  • Hopology
  • W.Lymn
