Thousands set to welcome West Bridgford’s Christmas Lights Switch On

16 November 2018

Thousands of people are set to descend on West Bridgford on Saturday November 24 for the town’s annual Christmas Lights Switch On!

The Mayor of Rushcliffe Cllr Mrs Maureen Stockwood will launch the annual festive lights in conjunction with The Botanist as a spectacular fireworks show completes the big switch on at 5pm.

Over 40 street light columns will make up this year’s features from Bridgford Road through to Central Avenue and Gordon Road to add a cheery sparkle for shoppers between now and January.

Local singers and bands, street theatre entertainers, and a children’s fairground will all await event goers from 10am.

A Christmas Market on the croquet lawn will offer a host of festive gifts, crafts, novelties and food and on Gordon Square there will be a YouNG Market from 12pm, with stalls exclusively by local young entrepreneurs.

Mayor Cllr Stockwood said: “It’s set to be another memorable Christmas Light Switch On in West Bridgford and as ever I am sure residents and visitors will support this wonderful start to the festive season in their droves.

“It’s a very important time of year for our businesses and traders and as a council we want to continue to ensure events of this nature help the local economy, so please come along and support them and welcome in this year’s festivities.”
