Have your say on empty homes strategy

1 November 2018

Rushcliffe Borough Council is developing an empty homes strategy and is seeking views to assess how the number of empty dwellings in the Borough can be reduced.

The draft strategy can be viewed at: and outlines the current ways the authority is tackling empty homes.

Unoccupied homes can be detrimental to the lives of local residents and communities and can cause problems such as vandalism, anti-social behaviour and nuisance and reducing values of surrounding properties to those living within close proximity.

Residents can now submit their thoughts until November 30 on the strategy at and give their views on how Rushcliffe could tackle empty homes even more effectively.

The Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing, Planning and Waste Management, Cllr Roger Upton said: “We wish to adopt this empty homes strategy as soon as possible.

“Please have your say with the current consultation to help us further assess how we can tackle this issue.”
