Proms in the Park set to be a great celebration for Armed Forces Day

Proms in the Park is set to be a great celebration for Armed Forces Day tomorrow (Saturday June 30) as hundreds of music fans are set to descend on Bridgford Park in West Bridgford for the annual event.

Coordinators Rushcliffe Borough Council will once again be welcoming a host of number of local choirs, singers and bands are set to wow residents and visitors alike in the event’s celebratory 10th anniversary.

Proms in the Park is the authority’s free open-air musical event to further celebrate the Forces’ commitments in the Borough that include support from Rushcliffe’s Community Covenant.

There will be performances from 12pm right through to 9pm with community displays, sports activities and a children’s fairground also entertaining event goers.

The highlight of the day will be a rousingly patriotic performance by Nottingham Concert Band at 7pm featuring pieces specially chosen to commemorate the centenary of World War One and 100 years since the formation of the Royal Air Force.

Deputy Leader of the Council Cllr Debbie Mason said: “This year’s Proms in the Park is set to be a fabulous event, not only providing lots of great music and fun but also to offer a fitting tribute to our Armed Forces. 

“The weather is also set to be perfect, so come along to Bridgford Park to enjoy the performances and activities.”

4pm                Jack Willis (classical tenor)

6pm                The Manchester Violinist

7pm                Nottingham Concert Band


The event has been made possible thanks to support from the Ministry Of Defence and event sponsors Grosvenor House Day Nursery of Edwalton.

Tony Pritchard from the Nursery said: “We’re delighted to continue to play our part working alongside Rushcliffe Borough Council in sponsoring such a fabulous local event. 

“We know it’s going to be a great day out for the family and we’ll look forward to seeing some familiar faces there.”
