Rushcliffe Borough Council raises flag to celebrate Armed Forces Day

26 June 2018

Rushcliffe Borough Council has raised a flag outside Rushcliffe Arena in support of the annual British Armed Forces Day.

Mayor of Rushcliffe, Cllr Mrs Maureen Stockwood led a ceremony on Monday (June 25) by helping to raise a Union Flag with a message encouraging residents of Rushcliffe and visitors alike to join in the celebrations.

The Mayor read out a speech before the flag was raised and officially commenced a week of celebration in honour of our Armed Forces.

The Mayor said: “Our Armed Forces and Veterans rightly deserve the nation’s support and recognition. They, and their families, have made and continue to make huge personal sacrifices to ensure the interests of our country are defended, and this is our chance to say thank you.”

The week of celebrations will culminate in Saturday’s music spectacular, Proms in the Park, at Bridgford Park on June 30.
