Ideas shared at Tour of Britain Community Engagement Event

22 June 2018

More than 50 members of the local community attended Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Community Engagement event on June 21.

Members of community groups and organisations in Rushcliffe, wishing to welcome the OVO Energy Tour of Britain passing through their town or village, were present at the event to find out more about how they can celebrate the sporting spectacle.

Parish councils, cycling and sports clubs, businesses and all other interested parties were given information on the support available from Rushcliffe Borough Council and were able to ask questions, and hear tips and ideas on the countless exciting ways to get involved in the event, before, during and after it flies through the Borough on September 8.

Following the presentation given by officers organising the event, attendees then had the chance to sit down with members of the organising team, to share the initial plans they had and to ask further questions.

Rushcliffe Borough Council is now encouraging those that attended to relay any further ideas they have for their area so they can assist in terms of wider promotions and to possibly provide further assistance. Don’t worry if you did not get to the event, there is still lots of time to get involved.

The event also provided further information about the route, timings and potential volunteer opportunities.

It was announced on June 5 that the Borough will be hosting part of the seventh stage of the national cycling race.

Central Avenue in West Bridgford is set to host the start of the cycling extravaganza, after which 120 riders will wow residents and visitors with the penultimate leg of the nation’s premier cycle race as it winds its way through 223km of the county.

The specific route through the borough is available to view here:
