Car park changes for Keyworth to help support village businesses

30 April 2018

Changes are set to be introduced at Bunny Lane car park in Keyworth to help support shoppers at local businesses in the village.

From July 1 residents and visitors using the facility can park free of charge for two hours using a voucher from a new ticket machine.

Those wishing to stay for up to three hours will need to pay a new charge of £1 and those over and above three hours will be set a £20 fee.

The new rules are to discourage long stay car parking and ensure the facility is available for local residents and visitors to shop without hassle in the village centre.

Deputy Leader of the Council Councillor Debbie Mason said: “For some time we have been approached by residents and businesses about many motorists struggling to park at Bunny Lane due to longer-term parkers.

“Whilst we welcome all those who wish to use the car park we’re delighted to now introduce these measures for the benefit of shoppers and businesses alike.

“This is something that we have recently introduced in Bingham to great effect and we are grateful to Keyworth Parish Council who have advised that longer-term parkers can consider using the nearby village hall car park on Elm Avenue.

“We are also exploring plans at how we can reconfigure the car park to ensure that there are sufficient disabled spaces and drop off and pick up areas for those needing to visit the health centre.”
