Death of Past Rushcliffe Mayor, David Bell

25 September 2017

Councillors and staff are saddened by the news that past Mayor and longstanding Councillor David Bell passed away this weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

Dave was first elected to the Borough Council in May 1995 representing the Melton ward in West Bridgford. He tirelessly represented his community until his retirement in May 2015 serving on numerous committees and working parties. He served on the Cabinet for many years as Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing and was Mayor of Rushcliffe for the civic year 2003/04. Dave’s long association with the Council started before becoming a Councillor as he had begun his career with Rushcliffe as a Housing Officer and become Head of Housing before his retirement.

Dave will be fondly remembered by Council staff for his easy-going nature and quick humour.
