Local Plan Part 2: Land and Planning Policies

We are currently consulting on Local Plan Part 2: Preferred Housing Sites.

Consultation deadline: 5pm Monday 27 November 2017

What is the Local Plan Part 2?

Local Plan Part 2: Land and Planning Policies Document (LAPP) will set out the non-strategic development allocations and a number of detailed policies for managing new development, following on from the strategic framework set out in the Core Strategy (Local Plan Part 1). When adopted, both documents will constitute the statutory development plan for the whole of the Borough and will replace all former Local Plans. Local Plan Part 2 will run to 2028 to align with the plan period of the Core Strategy.

We are currently consulting on the Preferred Housing Sites. We previously consulted on the Issues and Options in January 2016 and the Further Options in 2017.

Preferred Housing Sites

‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌Consultation

We consulted last year and earlier this year on what should be included in Local Plan Part 2, including where new homes might be built.  We have now identified where we believe more homes should be built and are undertaking consultation on these proposals.

We are proposing the allocation of a number of new sites across Rushclife for housing development.  The sites, which in total would deliver over 2,500 new homes, are at the following locations: Bunny, Cotgrave, Cropwell Bishop, East Bridgford, Gotham, Keyworth, Radcliffe on Trent, Ruddington and West Bridgford.

A ‘Preferred Housing Sites’ document has been prepared which includes a number of questions that you may wish to use to comment on the consultation.

Issues and Options

Issues and Options

Issues and Options of the Local Plan Part 2: Land and Planning Policies Document (LAPP)

This was part of the first stage of preparing Local Plan Part 2. It identified some of the key issues that we think Local Plan Part 2 needed to include and asked for your views on these. One of these key issues was identifying new housing sites on the edge of the 'key settlements' of East Leake, Keyworth, Radcliffe on Trent and Ruddington. The document also asked for views on employment provision, retail centres, design, green infrastructure and biodiversity, climate change and other issues.

The Issues and Options consultation ended on 24 March 2016. It was consulted on alongside the following documents:

‌‌Draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report

Draft Green Belt Review Part 2b

Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
