Scrap metal dealers
Scrap Metal is regulated under the provisions of Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964.
A scrap metal dealer is classed as a person carrying on a business in the area when any of the following apply:
- The dealer occupies a place as a scrap metal store
- The dealer does not occupy a place as a scrap metal store but lives in the area
- The dealer does not occupy a place as a scrap metal dealer but occupies a place for business purposes.
There is no charge for the registration and it is renewable every three years.
Am I eligible?
The applicant must provide full details of themselves and their business. The dealer must notify the local authority of any changes to these details or if they cease to be a scrap metal dealer.

Once your application form has been received the authority the Police will be informed of the application and you will contacted.
