Nottinghamshire County Council election 2013

Nottinghamshire County Council elections took place on Thursday 2 May. This election is combined with the Borough Council by-election for Leake Ward following the resignation of Cllr Dale and the parish council by-election for the Stonebridge Ward of East Leake Parish Council.

All sixty-seven Notts County Council seats are up for re-election with nine of these seats representing Rushcliffe residents.

Leake Ward by-election 2 May 2013

A by-election was held in Leake ward on Thursday 2 May 2013. The poll produced a turnout of 37.2% and resulted in John Thurman being elected as the borough councillor for Leake ward. The votes cast were as follows:

  • Collins, Steve: 345
  • Faithful, Matthew: 296
  • Thomas, Carys: 498
  • Thurman, John: 793 - ELECTED.

East Leake Parish Council - Stonebridge Ward - Thursday 2 May 2013

A by-election was held in East Leake Parish Council - Stonebridge Ward on Thursday 2 May 2013. The poll produced a turnout of 28.9% and resulted in Vivienne Thurman being elected as the parish councillor for Stonebridge ward. The votes cast were as follows:

  • Smith, Graham Roderick: 145
  • Thurman, Vivienne: 250 - ELECTED
  • Way, Leslie Anne: 222.

Elections are being held for:

  • Nottinghamshire County Council Elections
  • Rushcliffe Borough Council By Election – Leake Ward
  • East Leake Parish Council By Election – Stonebridge Ward

Who can vote at these elections?

You can vote in these elections if you are registered to vote and are:

  • Resident in that area
  • A British Citizen living in the UK or registered to vote as a Crown Servant or member of the armed services
  • A European Union Citizen living in the UK
  • A Commonwealth Citizen who either does not need leave to be resident in the UK, or has the necessary leave and is legally resident in the UK.

The Register of Electors

The current register was published on 16 October 2012, based on where you were resident on 15 October 2012. If you have since moved address or have not registered you will need to do so by completing and returning a registration form by the deadline of 17 April 2013. The completed form must be received by this deadline if it is to be effective for this election. Print out the application form and send the completed form to the address stated.

Postal and Proxy Voting

If you would like to apply for a postal vote then you can do so by completing and returning an application form by the deadline of 5pm on 17 April 2013. The completed form must be received by this deadline if it is to be effective for this election. Download and complete the application form.

Voters can also appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf. Proxy applications must be received by no later than 5pm on 24 April 2013. The completed form must be received by this deadline if it is to be effective for this election. Download and complete the application form.

Poll Cards

Polling cards will be sent to all eligible voters on Tuesday 26 March giving further information on how you cast your vote on 2 May. If you have not received a polling card by 5 April please contact the Community Contact Centre to check that you are registered to vote.

Polling Hours

Polling hours on Thursday 2 May 2013 will be from 7am to 10pm.
