What gets built where - consultation in Rushcliffe

Over the last week our Planning Policy team has been attending other venues throughout the Borough with the consultation exhibition.

The ‘Option for Consultation’ document sets out where development could go up to 2026, the consultation is gathering people’s views. Further details of events and the consultation document can be found on the Big Picture website.

This week’s events…

Gotham Village Hall – Thursday 18 March 2-7pm

The event at Gotham village hall was attended by over 100 people. The majority of people voiced concern over the development proposal at the Clifton Pastures site and the planning application submitted by Barretts Homes.  A Development Control Officer also attended the meeting and was able to discuss some of the more technical details of the application.  The Big Picture kiosk attracted the attention of a number of people who were able to voice their opinion electronically.

Thrumpton Village Hall – Friday 19 March 2-7pm

The event at Thrumpton village Hall was well attended - over 100 people viewed the exhibition. This event was greeted with a very mixed response - whilst some people were happy to look over the site maps that were available, others were strongly opposed to the impacts on the village and the surrounding area that the application at Clifton would have.

Dayncourt School – Tuesday 23 March 8.30am-12.15pm

Rushcliffe officers and Planning Aid officers delivered a 3-hour session to a group of 24 students aged 14-16.  The students were introduced to the role of planning officers and were guided through a number of exercises. The students were then given a chance to create their own community with a game from Planning Aid, by placing models of houses, roads, open spaces, etc on a blank base map. The students were encouraged to think about the services and facilities which make a successful community and their thoughts about the regeneration of the Cotgrave Colliery site.

Gamston – Wednesday 24 March 12.30pm-5.30pm

Officers from both the Planning Policy and the Development Control teams attended the event at Gamston Community Hall - it was viewed by about 40 members of the public.  The majority of people were concerned about the proposed site at Gamston and the potential impacts that this may have on the existing community, in particular the possibility of a new football stadium.
