The document addresses topics such as the locations of new homes, facilities, new areas for jobs and climate change issues.
The document includes the Council’s suggestions for major housing sites at Clifton, Gamston and Cotgrave. Even though the Council is opposed to the level of new housing required, it needs the views of local residents about these sites and also to help highlight the facilities required, for example, leisure facilities, schools, places to work, shops and cycle routes, as well as the types and sizes of houses.
In addition to these major sites the Council has set out, in principle, where other housing should be provided in Rushcliffe, along with other types of development, such as new areas for jobs. The Council also wants opinions from local residents as to whether a small amount of new housing should be allowed in the smaller rural villages including affordable housing intended to meet local needs.
Cabinet Member, Cllr David Bell said: “Housing and population growth is the most important issue facing Rushcliffe in the years to come. As such, the Council is carrying out the most comprehensive consultation exercise we have ever undertaken. The Council continues to oppose the level of growth required, but in the meantime we have to plan to achieve the best possible solution for the future of the Borough.“
