The Council is introducing these measures to address customer concerns – responsible parkers keep complaining that it’s time the Council tackled the inconsiderate parkers.
The Council is not introducing charging in these car parks - it is cutting down on antisocial behaviour. Some people park very badly (taking up two bays, parking on access roads, etc), abusing the disabled bays (not displaying valid blue badges) and parking large vans or cars with trailers in the car parks.
Civil enforcement officers who patrol the car parks will issue ‘dummy tickets’ for a week starting from 5 October 2009. This gives people fair warning that they would have got a ticket if the system was in force – and additional signs will be placed in all car parks warning of this new system. The issuing of ‘real tickets’ begins on 12 October.
