Meadow Covert Nature Reserve
Meadow Covert is a 400 year old, 1.75 hectare woodland, which was formerly a pheasant keep for the Lord of the Manor. The West Bridgford Urban District Council bought the site in the late 1940s with the woodland in decline and in 1970 the Edwalton County Primary School obtained permission to clean up the Covert and use it for educational purposes, a use which continues to this day. A Management Committee was formed in 1972 and the site was declared, but not formerly dedicated as, a nature reserve. Visits to the Covert can be arranged by contacting the Head Teacher, Edwalton Primary School, Wellin Lane, Edwalton, Nottingham; telephone 0115 914 4221.
