The Policy and Performance Unit prepares the Council's overall planning policies to guide development in the borough. These policies are then implemented when decisions are made on planning applications.
In this section of the website you can find out about where new homes and industry will be built under the Local Plan/Local Development Framework, view details on all current and historic planning applications within the borough, and send us your comments on planning issues. If you need information on applying for planning permission, you will find this (and the accompanying forms) in the Planning Applications (Development Control) section.
Advice on a sustainable approach to development is available from the Sustainable Developer Guide for Nottinghamshire website.

You may also find it helpful to visit the Planning Portal, the government's online service for planning, to find out about planning in your area and what development you can perform around your house.
Decisions on planning applications
The Development Control committee, which decides some planning applications, meets approximately every four weeks. The agenda papers for each meeting are published five working days before the meeting, and include reports on individual applications as well as the meetings of the previous meeting. See the calendar of meetings to access agendas and minutes for these meetings. You may also wish to read information about how planning decisions are made and by who (sometimes called the Council's delegated arrangements).
