Option for consultation

The consultation period for the Core Strategy Option for Consultation document ended on Monday 12 April 2010.

The Borough Council is now in the process of collating and summarising the responses received through this consultation. The summary of comments received will then be considered by the council and alterations will be made to the Draft Core Strategy as necessary.

As well as considering comments, further work is necessary to support the Core Strategy including transport modelling and infrastructure planning.  If the sites at Clifton and Gamston are to be progressed further, then there is a need to undertake further work in relation to these sites. This would involve looking at issues such as defining site boundaries and assessing what facilities and on-site infrastructure is required, for instance.

A further period of consultation is timetabled to take place in autumn 2010. The timing of the next stage of consultation is dependant on the length of time it takes to summarise and consider the comments received as well as the further work outlined above that will need to be undertaken.

The Option for Consultation document was produced jointly with the Councils of Broxtowe, Erewash, Gedling, Nottingham City and Rushcliffe. The report looks at how Greater Nottingham could change over the next 20 years and outlines a delivery strategy for achieving this vision. The delivery strategy contains the following 19 policies:

  • Climate Change
  • The Spatial Strategy (where development will go)
  • The Sustainable Urban Extensions
  • Employment Provision and Economic Development
  • Nottingham City Centre
  • The Role of Town and Local Centres
  • Regeneration
  • Housing Size, Mix and Choice
  • Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople
  • Design, the Historic Environment and Enhancing Local Identity
  • Local Services and Healthy Lifestyles
  • Culture, Sport and Tourism
  • Managing Travel Demand
  • Transport Infrastructure Priorities
  • Green Infrastructure, Parks and Open Space
  • Biodiversity
  • Landscape Character
  • Infrastructure
  • Developer Contributions
