Over nine out of ten (93%) Rushcliffe residents love living here too.
In autumn 2008 residents nationwide were sent the Place Survey to find out what they thought of a whole range of public services. The survey provides a measure of how effective public services are within local authority areas and people’s perception of life in their locality. It asked questions about specific services such as bin collections, recycling, leisure facilities, plus council performance as a whole. In Rushcliffe 50% of residents completed the survey – and the results were announced nationally on 23 June.
Rushcliffe also achieved another first – residents judged it to be the top council in the country for providing value for money. Rushcliffe was judged to be in second position in terms of residents feeling that they were treated with respect and consideration by local public services. Closely following this, Rushcliffe came in third on the indicator where people felt they could influence local decisions.
Cllr Neil Clarke, Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council, said: “We are delighted that residents have told us again that they are very happy living here and that they are happy with the way we run things. It’s been a very good couple of weeks for us – a great ICC Twenty20 cricket tournament, a highly successful staff awards and also being shortlisted for the best council award in the Municipal Journal awards which we will know if we have won tomorrow (25 June).”
Cllr Chris Evans, Leader of the Opposition, said: “It’s great news to see that we are top in so many areas which is proof of our excellence. It’s also interesting to see where we are not top, so that we can make improvements and aim to make sure we get top spots in as many categories as possible in the future.”
