Our Streetwise Action teams (SWATs) provide a responsive service for removing abandoned vehicles, cleaning chewing gum from pavements, clearing litter in hedges and on roadsides and maintaining parks and open spaces.

We are tough on people who act anti-socially and who fail to respect our communities. We work in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, police, fire, local schools, businesses, voluntary groups and residents to improve the environment for everyone.  

Report problems

We need all residents to do their bit to keep Rushcliffe clean and tidy, to tell us quickly about problem areas, litter, graffiti and abandoned cars and to encourage friends and neighbours to do the same. Report problems to us using our online form or contact us by phone, fax, email or post. 

Task Force

In September 2008, Nottinghamshire County Council launched five new highways teams that will provide back-up support to emergency situations and provide a faster response to everyday non-emergency incidents. The teams have eye-catching vehicles branded ‘Task Force’, which feature photographs of County Council highways workers.

The teams and their vehicles have been funded by the County Council from its Transport and Highways budget and will enable non-emergency jobs, which affect the community on a day-to-day basis, to be completed much faster. These jobs include repairs to street furniture and road signs, the removal of illegal signs, and the cutting down of overgrown hedges and trees that block the highway.

The teams will also provide additional back-up support to emergency situations such as road traffic collisions, flooding incidents and emergency road closures. Two vehicles will be used by Nottinghamshire County Council for work in the north (Bassetlaw and Newark) and south (Gedling and Rushcliffe) of the county.
